Bruno Poco

Ever since I can remember I have been surrounded by cameras and photographs. Both my grandfathers loved photography; but for my maternal grandfather Pires, photography was a lifestyle, a passion and a source of income. He was very apt from photographing to working in a darkroom. He still has one of the most comprehensive vintage camera collections I have ever seen. My father was also an avid photographer. During the time he worked in advertising, he was one of South Africa's first commercial digital photographers. Growing up like this it was easy to find my talent.

As a little boy I showed talent for the visual arts.  I attended the National School of the Arts where Photography was one of my subjects and completed a Fine Arts Honours degree, majoring in drawing, printmaking and photography. I later became a middle school arts educator at one of South Africa's top schools and a digital photography lecturer for the National College of Digital Photography and the College of Digital Photography.

Through all the this time time travel has been one of my main sources of inspiration. Photography's portable nature and unobtrusive and banal characteristics allowed my to continually produce work wherever and whenever I could. Now I have decided to dedicate myself to photographic explorations. I want to produce work that speaks for itself and images that share my perceptions of beauty and wonder.
